Today was a pretty hectic day. The plan was to attend a mommy meet-up at the tide pools so the kids can get some beach time. It was also the last meet up for this group. However, things didn't go as planned because my husband called to tell me that one of his trailer tires blew. We cancelled on the beach day so that I can help hubby with his trailer.
On today's agenda, there was also a hike with the family. Mom #2 (my mother in law) took the day off to do the hike and spend time with my brother in law who flew from L.A. as well as with the rest of the kids and grandkids. Thank God, we made it just in time. Whew!!
We saw a lot of cool plants during our mini hike. This white one is called Ginger, one my favorite flowers. It smells wonderful and are very popular as leis. There were a lot and I was happy just stopping to smell them. This one was pretty interesting. It looks like bananas and I think they are part of the banana family. I couldn't find a sign saying what kind of plant it is. On the way back to our starting point, my sister in law pointed out that someone ate part of it. Maybe the birds??
Daddy carried Rachel most of the way during our hike. She was very interested, pointing at things and just watching. I think she had a great time during the hike because she also enjoyed walking. She walked quite a long ways because she and daddy went ahead during our way back as I carried her backpack.
Rachel had tons of fun. I can't wait to take her hiking again! Rainy season is getting close so hopefully, we get another hike on the schedule soon.
However, I can't say the same for cousin Willow who was quite a grump during the long walk. She missed her much needed nap time and was not too happy about walking. Also, she was upset that she wasn't riding in a backpack like Rachel and cousin Sadie. It was finally decided that Sadie was to be carried by mommy and Willow get on the backpack. She finally stopped crying and was happy to be carried. Thanks uncle Paul!
The hike turned out pretty good. The boys had fun walking ahead while the adults took their time (minding our knees and our backs lol) to enjoy the scenery. This plant called the bat flower. It was right in the beginning of the trail. Pretty cool!
