Aahhh!

The only time I remember to do my blog is before I go to bed. By that time, I am seriously tired from class. Here's the lowdown on my classes and my field work:

I have field work on Mondays and Tuesdays an elementary school very close to my home. This semester, I am working with kindergarten kids who are in Special Education. I am very excited and nervous at the same time. I hope that I can offer some help in alleviating the work load my mentor teacher has in this class.

On Wednesdays and Thursdays, I have classes on theory and methods. My classes include how to teach social studies, math, teaching strategies, a multicultural emphasis on the American education system, and a classroom and behavioral management class. Whew!! Each of these classes are 2 1/2 hours each and are once a week.

Traveling to the school is such a hassle... for me anyway. I don't mind the traffic so much when driving to school, it's the parking issue I am most annoyed about. I leave early enough to allow me ample time to find parking so that I can be on time for class. However, this is not the case. On the first day, I drove around and around and around the nearby residential areas for 45 minutes before I found parking! Even though I left the house early, I still had a hard time finding parking. On the bright side, I do have to walk a little further and that means... EXERCISE!!! It's something that I've been meaning to do but never really have time for. You know how these fitness experts say that you "always" have time?? In my case, my parking woes will reward me a little less weight on my legs (hopefully haha).

Well, I should now limit my time on things like this because I have a lot of reading to do. Throughout this semester besides taking the knowledge needed to help me become a teacher, I am also looking towards improving my organization skills, being on task, and reducing the level of my procrastination. Hey, maybe this will be the subject of my semester project for my behavioral management class- it's quantifiable, observable, and measurable using the number of assignments turned in a timely manner vs. late assignments.

I am pretty tired. I have to get used to going to school again. Thankfully, David's been good about picking up things in the house (doing my happy dance) and I hope it becomes a habit :::wink wink:::.

More on school and Rachel's latest antics, coming soon!
Till next time!
